25-26 School Bus Driver (Part-time)
POSITION OVERVIEW St. Catherine's School is accepting applications for School Bus Drivers. Applicants with Class A or Class B CDL, with Passenger and Air Brake endorsements with a minimum of three years' driving experience are preferred. Responsibilities include driving students along daily shuttle route and day trips. Maintaining assigned bus in a safe, clean, professional manner is a must. Employment is subject to successful background check and physical evaluation.   Supervisor:     Transportation Manager/Chief Operating Officer Supervisory Responsibilities:  N/A Position Status:  Hourly, non-exempt, part-time, regular, 9-month Hours of Work:  Standard work week.  Evening and weekend work may be required. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Drives a school transportation vehicle within prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules; picking up and discharging students at designated stops Coordinate with Athletics to transport athletes to/from sports events (local and distance) Transports students and teachers on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed May operate a special ramp bus; loads and unloads students in wheelchairs on and off bus, inspecting wheelchair for operational safety; operates ramp; positions and secures wheelchair in bus Maintains order of student passengers according to school policy Pre-trip the vehicle properly Have bus fueled and ready to go 15 minutes prior to departure time Properly fill out time sheet and mileage reports each day Conduct safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle daily Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary Services buses with gas, diesel fuel, and oil; checks and when necessary, fills tires and batteries Performs periodical safety drills as required by law; completing necessary reports upon request Maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition Attend various meetings regarding safety, first aid and training updates as required Attends driver training programs to maintain current knowledge of Vriginia Motor Vehicle Code Operates a two-way radio Washes bus as needed Ability to follow route directions (GPS or written) Complete annual physical requirements Maintain reputable driving background; must not have an air brakes restriction Must be able to work various shifts Performs related duties as required PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT  While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to grasp, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified. TRAVEL Occasional overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required for special events.
