Sets up, operates, adjusts, reworks and troubleshoots part product of higher complexity that conform to part print specifications in five or more major “INDEX” brand turning center machine models and includes some secondary operations and machines. Notifies supervision of non-conforming product. (Read/Edit programs, assess tool conditions, install attachments, adjust tools, perform offsets, bar loading, clear /interpret alarms, monitor coolant condition, etc.) Performs SPC and maintains process to within target using appropriate computer software/hardware on applicable machines/parts. Performs 1st Articles with an applied understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing. (GDT) Maintains a clean and orderly work area in conjunction with maintaining a safe work environment and notifying safety representative or supervision of unsafe conditions. Trains operators and oversees operator’s work product as assigned. Performs preventive maintenance by maintaining machine lubricant levels, perform TPM (total productive maintenance) as directed, recognize the need for maintenance and notify the appropriate persons and prepare machines for scheduled maintenance when directed. Will train coworkers to setup, inspect, and adhere to various operations procedures, etc. Completes department paperwork and electronic data where applicable. (BCD “barcode data collection”, conversion time logs, system transactions, etc.) Notifies supervision of unassigned machines, seek additional work when available and assist coworkers on own initiative when applicable. May perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Skills and Experiences You’ll Need as a CNC Setup Machinist: Demonstrates all the qualifications of all lower grade Production Machinist and Machine Operator positions. Seven years of various Production Machinist, troubleshooting and operational experience required. Minimum of five years of “INDEX” brand Turning Center experience preferred. Must be able to interpret and apply GDT. Must have ability to perform advanced shop math. Must have ability to effectively communicate written and verbal technical terms in English. Familiarity with computer and Microsoft based software systems preferred.   Work Environment: Work takes place in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and chemicals. Ability to use PPE. Ability to stand or sit for long periods. Good manual dexterity, fine motor skills, visual acuity, and ability to use full range of motion.
