Controller – Development (Construction & Real Estate) Location: Onsite (U.S.) Schedule: Full time About the role We are seeking a Controller – Development to lead accounting operations and financial reporting for multiple development projects and entities. You will supervise the development accounting team, own monthly close and GAAP financials, manage cash flow and bank draws, and partner with leadership on budgets, variance analysis, and long-term financial goals. Responsibilities: Lead and mentor the development accounting team; hire, coach, and ensure deliverables are met. Oversee full-cycle accounting: monthly close, journal entries, reconciliations, GAAP financial statements, and subsidiary schedules. Prepare timely P&L and balance sheet reporting for all entities; support quarterly presentations. Manage cash flow forecasts and prepare monthly bank draw packages for development or syndication entities. Report project status on budget vs. actuals, purchasing, variance, and cost-to-complete. Ensure timely accounts payable processing and strengthen internal controls and procedures. Build annual operating budgets and pro formas; support audits and tax filings. Drive process improvements to streamline close and reporting and improve data quality. Qualifications: CPA Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Ten or more years of progressive accounting experience with at least five years in construction. Hands-on experience with Sage 300/Timberline or similar ERP; advanced Excel skills. Strong knowledge of GAAP, project accounting, cash management, bank draws, and internal controls. Proven team leadership and clear communication with executives and cross-functional partners.
