Church Janitor / Custodian (walnut creek)

General Purpose: Supports the mission of Saint Matthew by performing a wide variety of custodial and janitorial duties including professional cleaning, maintenance, and event set-up services in support of church programs and wider community events.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Clean floors - sweep, mop, scrub, vacuum, remove stains, strip, seal, finish, and polish.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recycling.
• Clean, dust, and furniture, fixtures, windows, walls, and doors. Remove cobwebs.
• Maintain clean and safe walkways, including collecting litter from outdoor areas.
• Monitor building security by checking for unlocked doors/windows.
• Interface with visitors to the facility, providing hospitality and diplomatic problem-solving.
• Notify Administrator of needed janitorial supplies.
• Maintain clean and well-stocked storage areas.
• Provide room set up and clean up for church programs and outside events.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must undergo background check.
• Communicate well, including the ability to read English.
• Previous Janitorial/Custodial experience preferred, but not required.
