Job Summary: Under the direction of the Assignments Supervisor, the Flagperson protects personnel and equipment while working on or near the tracks. The Flagperson uses various types of equipment, such as flags, whistles, discs, lights and two-way radios to ensure the safe passage of trains. The Flagperson duties primarily consist of three assignments, Switch Tender, Watchperson and Flagperson. The Switch Tender manipulates switches and signals train operators when proper switch alignment is provided. The Watchperson is charged with monitoring approaching trains and alerting work crews to clear the track of men and equipment. Responsibilities and Duties: The Sand Blast position has the responsibility assisting SDPPC in a variety of functions. Skills and Qualifications: • Minimum 1 Year Sand Blast Experience Required. • Relevant experience operating sand blast equipment and knowledgeable about the major components of the blasting equipment/booth compressor, filters and personal protective equipment. • Able to determine types of substrates (steel, stainless steel, aluminum) material and thickness, and discern what level of psi nozzle size and distance to run. • Proven ability to understand work orders and properly blast parts according to specifications. • Prove strong work ethic and consistent on time attendance. • Proven ability to recommend process improvements. • Demonstrate ability to maintain organization and safety. • Proven ability to consistently meet production schedules. Requirements: • Must be able to pass E-Verify. • Must be at least 18 years old. • Must be able to pass a drug test. • Must be able to perform basic math skills. • Must be able to read and write in English. • Must be able to understand quality standards and adhere to specific written and drawing instructions. • Must follow compliance and safety requirements and standards, including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) daily. • Able to positively interact with customers and coworkers of all ages, different ethnic/cultural backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs. • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time. • Regular use of hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl, walk, talk, and hear. • Occasionally sit, climb or balance • Frequently lift/move 10-25 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. • Must be able to work in outside weather conditions (hot, cold, wet and/or humid).
