Job Description Established family-owned farm in Easton, Connecticut, seeks one or more maintenance workers. The Farm Maintenance Worker will assist the Farm’s Facilities Manager in any maintenance, repair, agricultural, and other work necessary so that farming operations run smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities may include maintaining and repairing farm buildings, machinery, and equipment, and ensuring the farm grounds are kept clean and in good order. Candidates must have the ability to operate and maintain power tools/equipment and vehicles (such as trucks, tractors, and mowers), and a willingness to learn more. Basic mechanical skills are required. Basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills are helpful. Prior experience working on a farm is not necessary but is a plus. Responsibilities • Perform routine maintenance and repair on farm buildings, machinery, and equipment. • Inspect machinery and equipment to ensure good working conditions. • Perform tasks necessary to maintain farm grounds, including mowing and trimming. • Assist with farm operations as needed. • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Farm Maintenance Worker’s supervisor, the Farm’s Facilities Manager. Qualifications • Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds. • Must be able to safely use power tools and machinery. • Must be willing and able to work outdoors in any weather condition. • Must be able to maintain accurate records of work performed, materials and equipment used, and other information. • Must have knowledge of farm machinery and equipment or the ability and willingness to learn. • Must be able to understand and apply basic workplace safety principles and practices. • Must hold a valid drivers’ license. A CDL is not required but is a plus. • Must be a problem-solver and have the ability to adapt to changing conditions. • Must be able to work well with others. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing repetitively throughout the entire shift. Work Hours and Pay Hours: Hours are typically 8 hours a day, possibly longer during busy times. Schochet is currently accepting resumes for a Facilities Manager. The Facilities Manager is responsible for all aspects of day-to-day maintenance operations of the property. Direct all operations of maintenance team, including porters. You must have extensive experience with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repair and unit turnover procedures. Symphony Plaza is 400 unit Elderly apartment community located in downtown Boston, MA. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs assigned staff. Reviews and evaluates performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals; 2. Schedules and assists with daily operations (service orders, repaints/re-carpets, apartment turnovers, etc.); 3. Develops and adheres to maintenance budget. Authorizes maintenance expenditures; 4. Coordinate service contracts and oversee any vendor and contractor activities; 5. Quality control checks for completed work by maintenance staff, contractors and vendors; 6. Communicate effectively with residents, fellow associates, vendors and supervisors; 7. Conduct and document regular property inspections and communicate results; 8. Inspect vacated apartments and complete ‘make-ready’ checklist and inform manager of needed services and repairs; 9. Required to be available and often on-site in the event of a weather or property emergency; 10. Enforces and adheres to company policies, rules, safety practices and regulations. This position requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in facilities. Demonstrate a progression of responsibilities with at least 3+years of management experience. Multifamily experience is highly desired. Formal training in facilities management, or building trades, or equivalent professional experience, required. Ability to communicate effectively with executive, and residential staff, and the public (vendors, tenants, government officials, etc.) as well as manage and motivate maintenance staff.
