Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are the driving force of our day program. DSPs drive ABLE vehicles to and from client’s homes and to outings. Outings include bowling, museums, yoga, libraries, dining at restaurants, crafting, and so much more! DSPs help clients navigate outings by assisting with social norms, money management, social skills, and help them to engage in activities. The part that’s not all fun & games… DSPs are responsible for supporting clients that need assistance with daily living activities such as eating and using the restroom. Q-mapped DSPs give medication, provide first aid, administer G-tube feedings, and document according to ABLE’s policies and procedures. Cleans and/or changes air conditioning filters.  Inspect, repair and maintain building structures and equipment, i.e., electrical systems, plumbing systems, heating systems, air conditioning systems, refrigeration systems, appliances, paint, laundry equipment, kitchen equipment, furnishings, windows, fire alarm systems, telephones, doors, vehicles, etc. Replaces burned out light bulbs, to include exit lights, outside lights, decorative lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, etc. and performs custodial duties.
