FOR SALE 1997 Ford f-150 XLT. 4 Wheel Drive. 191,700 miles 5.4L Triton V8. This truck probably isn’t for you. But if it is, let’s talk The Good. Engine runs good. No ticking, clicking or knocking or any of that funny business. I’ve been pretty disciplined with the oil changes and such. Has a very slight exhaust leak on the manifold that gives it an almost expensive throaty sound. The glass is in good shape, so is the hood and grill. Has full size spare tire. Tires are pretty good shape. Some new parts. New gas tank a couple yeas ago. I replaced the starter a while back. Taken care of the motor pretty well. Probably had new plugs and coils around 120k. Transmission shifts nicely. Has the Over Drive. Comes with receiver and ball mount. Has a power brake controller, although I personally would not recommend pulling a trailer with this rig. Had new brake lines installed a while back. Has fancy stainless exhaust tip. It gets hot. Ask me how I know. 4 Wheel drive works well. Just turn the knob. It has an ‘oh shit’ handle on the drinker side. Its red! Has a mostly decent ¾ inch 4x8 sheet of plywood in the bed. Comes with bedliner too Flag decal in the rear window installed after 9/11, its vintage. The Bad. Radio doesn’t play music. You can fidget with the buttons if you like. It has a cassette deck that my phone used to fit into nicely like a factory phone holder. Iphone 4 dimensions. I’ve been told the shocks might be past their prime. Some of the wiring to the windows is not the greatest. We direct wired the driver door window to power up and down. Don’t worry, we used a fuse. If you like A/C, I think there is an A/C setting. I don’t think it works. The headliner is the headliner of a 1997 vehicle. The hood has a trick to it. I’ll show you. Think of it as a security feature. Like most trucks this vintage, the tailgate is helping the sides of the bed maintain integrity. This one is too. The Ugly. Well. Derek would say shes got the weight reduction. Ankle vents and such. It does help with the air flow. After all it is a nearly 30 year old truck. The curb weight is less now than when it was new. Gold Wrench might say shes a bit thin, dang near anorexic. It’s a general comment. General, like not in any specific area, many areas... frame, bed, body, bumpers, frame… The sky is the limit. Its driven pretty much daily, so miles might be slightly different when you stop by. In the 80’s a running 4 wheel drive truck was worth $1000 minimum. Well, 40 years and 7 presidential administrations later, that is about $3,000 today. I’m reasonable Call this a parts truck to justify the discount if you want, and take it away for $1,250.
