2005 Ford Explorer XLS 66k original miles,1 owner - $3,500 (WALNUT PARK)

Selling my 86 year old fathers original purchase 2005 Ford Explorer XLS, only one owner, Six Cylinder with orginal 66688 miles, We have the Carfax and retail value is $7190, it needs a transmission replaced or rebuilt, we got a quote from local mechanic for $2.2k, for rebuilding transmission, transmission runs but 4th gear / overdrive does not engage, top speed is about 40 MPH, it is driveable. We paid registration fees, but did not pass smog, mechanic says it has to go over 55 MPH sustained so the Catalytic test can be ready, he said no other codes present when he tested it last week, today they fixed an intake manifold leak-Codes P0174, Service engine light turned on today. My father is 86 and the original car owner, he can no longer drive and we have decided to not fix the transmission, this is a mechanics dream or fixer upper talented person. The Dealership wants this car so they can fix it and resell it. We got a quote for a used transmission for $600 and we were going to do it ourselves, but we just don't have the time. We have the pink slip in hand. Air conditioning and heater work great, no accidents, drivers seat does have a tear. Price is negotiable. If ad is up car is still available. Selling for less than 50% of retail value, the 2005 model year was listed as a good model and reliable car, should last 200lk to 300k miles. Has a long life ahead with the proper maintenane.
