GENERAL JOB REQUIREMENTS Installing Cable and Various Cable Supports (IE cable tray, conduit, hangers etc). Utilizing cable test procedures and equipment for a variety of different cable types. Assisting with testing and terminating of cable systems. Following all production, safety, and quality standards to code. This position is responsible for reading and comprehending blueprints and building documentation/layout work. This position requires the ability to independently work or as part of a team at a customer site. The candidate must work well with customers and be able to present and conduct himself in a professional manor. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Work with CAT 5e & 6 twisted pair, optical fiber, coax, etc. Perform all cable pulling, suspension, fireproofing, terminating, and testing in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other local regulations. • Perform all work in a neat and quality manner. • Test and extend circuits from the MPOE to the customers site or appropriate location • Good customer service skills: Speaking, handling customer issues. • Ability to work well with other departments • Must be able to work overtime occasionally • On repair visits, confirm services requested are installed, operational and working correctly. PERIPHERAL DUTIES • Manage vehicle equipment inventory • Manage assigned company vehicle maintenance schedule Desired Skills and Experience Education and Experience: • High School degree or GED • Minimum of two (2) years in the field of low voltage voice and data cabling NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES • Fundamental working understanding of voice, data and internet customer application requirements. • Good analytical and problem solving ability for issue resolution. • Strong oral, written communication skills. • Demonstrate the ability to take ownership from introduction to installation. • Must be open to and be able to manage flexible hours per customer needs. • Must be able to work weekends (occasionally) • Must be able to drive to various customer locations throughout the work day • Valid drivers' license • Must have a clean DMV with no more than a maximum of 3 points on driving record • No DUIs within the past 3 years • Ability to pass a drug screen, background check and reference check. • Ability to install and focus cameras a plus. • Experience with Access Control a plus. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED Must own your own basic telecom tools including: Punch down tool with a 66/110 blade, snips, wire strippers, cordless drill, basic hand tools, Personal Protective Equipment including: Hard Hat, Boots, Safety Glasses, etc. A vehicle, work phone and work shirts will be provided. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to climb ladders, use lifts and operate hand tools. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
