The Team The Global Product Team is responsible for broadening the global reach of SmartNews.  Primarily, we are focused on the US News market as a means to broaden our footprint and provide more people high-quality news that they find essential.  Presently, we are building a new application called NewsArc. As a Senior Full Stack Engineer on the Global Engineering team, your mission is to contribute directly to the development and success of NewsArc. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining features across the stack. The role calls for strong ownership, the ability to work from idea to implementation, and a willingness to learn new technologies. You will make practical decisions, prototype solutions, and ship production-ready code, while collaborating effectively across functions. Responsibilities Innovate, build and maintain full-stack features for the NewsArc product Work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to shape features from idea to implementation Take ownership of problem areas: identify needs, propose solutions, and drive them to completion Navigate ambiguity through prototyping, iteration, and thoughtful trade-offs Balance code quality and execution speed in a fast-paced, collaborative and international environment 3 days a week in office (Palo Alto) Requirements Minimum requirements Proficient (4+ years) in product development using either Node.js, React or React Native to build cross-platform mobile and/or web applications. Proficiency in TypeScript required. Full stack experience: ability to work in frontend and backend systems. Proven experience and strong willingness to thrive in high-speed, rapid-prototyping environments Interest in news (even if no previous work experience): we want people who care about and understand what we do. Proficiency in containerization technologies (such as Docker, Helm), and experience with integrating and developing open-source tools. Experience with managing Kubernetes clusters in multi-cloud environments and designing crosscloud solutions. Proficient in automation, CI/CD processes, and promoting efficient automated deployment and integration within Kubernetes clusters.
