How You’ll Contribute: Kaufman Rossin has an exciting career opportunity for a Cost Segregation Intern to join our dynamic Tax practice, in South Florida.  This is a great growth opportunity for a detail-oriented professional interested in construction, architecture, and cost estimation.  You will work closely with a dedicated team of engineers to analyze different types of buildings, develop cost estimates, and classify building architectural components and systems in their proper asset classes.  Your work will be used by our tax accountants to determine the proper depreciation of our clients’ real properties and related assets. In your role of Cost Segregation Associate, you will:   Analyze full sets of construction drawings including Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Life Safety and Civil plans Analyze and reconcile contractor payment applications and construction cost ledgers Conduct site inspections on various types of buildings including multifamily properties, retail strips, restaurants, hotels, professional offices, warehouses, manufacturing plants, etc. Review real estate documents including property records, appraisals, site surveys and property condition assessments Develop quantity takeoffs using construction documents or findings from site inspections. Estimate unit costs using industry standard techniques and recognized construction manuals and software such as RS Means Prepare replacement cost new (RCN) analyses Prepare detailed calculations to support the allocation of buildings’ electrical and plumbing distribution systems Coordinate and collect information from building owners, architects, engineers, and contractors Actively contribute to the development of the cost segregation practice Requirements What Skills You’ll Bring:  Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or other relevant fields Ability to understand and analyze construction blueprints Strong skills in Microsoft Excel This position may require some local and national travel Junior or Senior in College 3.0 GPA   How You’ll Stand Out: Excellent verbal communication and strong writing skills Enjoy complex and challenging project work Ability to work overtime when needed Benefits We embrace authenticity.
