For over 40 years, we’ve operated almost exclusively through word-of-mouth and industry reputation. This role marks our first strategic investment in marketing and business development. Our projects span commercial and infrastructure sectors, with clients ranging from specialty contractors to government agencies. We are one of only a handful of firms specializing in deep foundations on the West Coast. --- About the Role We’re seeking a strategic and relationship-driven Marketing Associate to help PB&A grow our reach in the deep foundation space. The right candidate will be deeply embedded in—or highly familiar with—the AEC industry, especially among specialty contractors, general contractors, and public agencies. This person will drive outreach, marketing content, and business development strategy—translating PB&A’s reputation and legacy into measurable visibility and new opportunities. --- Key Responsibilities Relationship Management & Outreach · Maintain and grow relationships with past and current clients · Drive strategic referral conversations and introductions · Highlight PB&A’s full service offering to clients with narrow familiarity · Track personal and firm-wide connections across the deep foundation network Business Development & Pipeline Growth · Research and develop case studies from PB&A’s 40+ year project archive · Identify new opportunities in shoring, excavation, underpinning, and pile design · Manage RFP responses for both commercial and infrastructure projects · Support positioning efforts with architects, owners, and specialty contractors Marketing & Content Development · Design and execute a dual-marketing strategy: o Local: Engage the California-based shoring and deep foundation community o National: Expand PB&A visibility in licensed states (e.g., Connecticut, Maryland) · Coordinate webinars featuring Principal Engineer Pirooz Barar · Develop content that showcases our technical expertise and unique history Industry Engagement · Attend relevant conferences, networking events, and trade shows · Help PB&A maintain presence within the tight-knit West Coast deep foundation sector Market Intelligence · Monitor construction trends and regional activity · Track personnel movement within client organizations · Understand seasonal and regional cycles in deep foundation work --- Required Qualifications Industry Experience · Experience marketing within the AEC sector—engineering, architecture, or construction · Familiarity with commercial and infrastructure project lifecycles · Deep foundation or specialty contractor marketing experience strongly preferred · General contractor marketing background a plus (training in technical areas provided) Technical Competency · Understanding of project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build) · Knowledge of RFP processes, especially in public sector work · Comfort with specialized technical terms: tiebacks, piles, excavation support, etc. Relationship & Communication Skills · Excellent interpersonal and networking skills · Ability to navigate both formal proposal development and informal relationship-building · Comfortable communicating technical value to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders Marketing Tools & Strategy · Social media management for B2B/technical audiences · Content development and case study writing · Webinar coordination and virtual presentation support · Ability to interpret market trends and support data-driven decisions --- Who We’re Looking For This role is ideal for someone who: · Is already embedded in the deep foundation or specialty construction industry · Understands the referral-based, relationship-driven nature of this work · Can connect the dots between project performance, reputation, and new business · Is energized by storytelling, outreach, and helping technical voices be heard --- Why This Role Matters This is not just a marketing role—it’s an opportunity to help shape the future of PB&A’s presence in a specialized, highly technical industry.
