100 Green Fee Cir, Castle Pines, CO 80108, USA
About Me: I’m a 43-year-old quadriplegic, 24 years post-injury, living in Castle Pines with my wife and stepson. I’m active, use a power wheelchair and a wheelchair-accessible van, and try to lead a full life. FYI the closest RTD train stop is about 10 minutes away by car, and public transit options are basically nonexistent in the immediate area – so to get here a car is probably required. About the Position: I’m looking for a reliable, motivated personal care aide to assist with daily living activities, including: • Morning: Bathing, toileting, dressing. This takes 1-2 hours. • Transfers in/out of bed and wheelchair (I use an electric Hoyer lift) • Occasional meal prep and cleanup (my wife cooks a lot, but she’s not always around) • Light housework – Assistance with putting stuff away, organizing, laundry, things of that nature. • At night: Getting undressed and back in bed, usually only takes about 15-30 minutes. Experience with quadriplegia or home health care would definitely help, but not necessarily required. Just so there are no surprises at least Google what being an aide to a quad entails – Bladder/bowel routines for people with spinal cord injury, transfers, etc. If you are squeamish about bodily functions, this probably isn’t the best fit. What matters most is dependability, a strong caregiving instinct, and initiative. Key Traits I’m Looking For: • Punctual & reliable – My well-being absolutely depends on reliability. Chronic lateness or no-shows are a dealbreaker. • Caregiving instinct: If you’re the type of person who gets genuine fulfillment out of helping people, are high in empathy, and/or have a strong nurturing instinct, you’ll be great at this. • Self-directed/proactive – I don’t like to micromanage. • Physically capable – The Hoyer does the heavy lifting, but you’ll still need some physical strength to assist with transfers and positioning. • Clean & organized – Help maintaining an organized, sanitary home environment is important. • Friendly & respectful – I aim for an amicable, relaxed relationship – My last caregiver took care of me for 19 years, we lived together for 17, became extremely close, and she is now essentially a part of my family. Schedule & Compensation: • Morning: ~7:30 AM–10:30 AM (bathing, dressing, transfers, breakfast) • Evening: ~8:30 PM–10:30 PM (dinner, chores, bedtime) • Flexible scheduling - we can work out an exact schedule based on availability. I anticipate needing 2-3 people to cover every shift. If that sounds like something you’re interested in, please reply with: • A brief introduction • Any relevant experience • Your availability and location • Contact info Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing from you!
