PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST Qualifications/Requirements: Self-identified mental health consumer. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to work with diverse populations. Willingness to complete State of Maine Certified Intentional Peer Support training or have CIPSS certification. Willingness to actively participate in agency sponsored trainings related to this position. Excellent communication skills and ability to engage meaningfully with program participants. Excellent record of attendance and punctuality. Ability to engage in strengths-based interactions and maintain respect for all program participants. Ability to perform productively and responsibly in situations with minimal supervision. Ability to move towards positive goals and outcomes. Understanding of and belief in the peer support model. Must have valid drivers’ license and reliable personal vehicle. May not have received services from NOE for two years prior to beginning work. Must live within driving distance of Newport or Bangor, Maine. This is not a remote position. I am looking for a new home aide for myself. I have a diagnosis of MS and this leaves me unable to do the majority of basic daily tasks like cooking and grocery shopping, light cleaning, laundry, getting the mail, taking out the garbage, etc. I would need help with all that and more. The day would be about 7 1/2 hours long, 4 days a week. I can be flexible about the hours such as a split shift but I will need you in the morning by 9:30am or earlier. Please like taking walks. Especially this fall I'll want to get out as much as possible. I'll be in an electric wheelchair. Most days I'll want to watch a movie or binge a show.
