Each crew member needs to become proficient at each production step in the bakery, with the ability to move from one station to the next. This job requires working well with others in a hot environment and work days ranging from 6-10 hours. Employees must be able to lift 30 lbs regularly, must be punctual and detail-oriented. Experience in kitchens and familiarity with kitchen hygiene and sanitation protocols is preferred. Starry Night Cafe, located between Middlebury and Burlington, is looking for a detail-oriented individual(s) to join our team as the expeditor / food runner. The responsibilities of the food expeditor include maintaining the flow of orders from waiters to the kitchen to diners, ensuring orders are completed quickly and correctly, assisting with the finishing touches on dishes, running food and conducting quality control on each dish. You will work in a fast-paced environment to get proper orders out quickly and more efficiently. You must have enough stamina to be in constant motion and skills to coordinate and organize processes and people. Previous experience in a restaurant is ideal but we are always willing to train the right candidate. The ability to keep cool under stress and maintain excellent communication skills is important.
