Green Lake School Age Program (GLSA) is a state licensed, nonprofit, social emotional learning program based in nonviolent communication*, dedicated to creating meaningful relationships with children and to working in partnership with families to help raise empathetic, socially aware, happy, and emotionally intelligent individuals. Have fun while expanding your skills! GLSA's after school program engages children ages 5 - 12 in fun, community-oriented activities organized around themes, indoor and outdoor play. We are within walking distance from Green Lake Park, and we take full advantage of our neighborhood playground. We provide paid training: social emotional, non-violent communication, and career development in early education and school-age programs. We also reimburse for all training costs and job requirements. Responsibilities ● Plan and implement weekly curriculum and activities schedule with other team members ● Create daily schedules taking into account children’s age groups and interests ● Lead FUN recreational and educational activities through play, games, and explorations ● Set up and maintain equipment ● Assist children with conflicts using emotion coaching and NVC ● Respond to the developmental needs of the children ● Provide opportunities to meet the social emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of the children ● Maintain a safe, healthy, and positive environment for children and staff ● Perform first aid or take care of injuries as needed ● Keep accurate incident logs and documentation ● Be available: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 2PM - 6PM & Monday, Wednesday 1PM - 6pm, as well as a handful of 8 hour days during school breaks, and training. Skills ● Experience working with children, including responsible decision-making ● Strong interpersonal skills ● Reliable schedule ● Cleared background check ● CPR/1st Aid certification or complete upon hiring (PAID by GLSA) ● Documentation of a negative TB test which can be done once hired (GLSA reimburses the fees associated with the TB test administration and reading) ● Willingness to wear a mask depending on Washington State Department of Health COVID guidelines and GLSA policy ● A love for children ● Energetic and positive personality ● BA or working toward a BA preferred, but not required To Apply: Please send us your resume and a brief cover letter describing your experience with children and your availability.

The Mountain Lake Chess Camp is the longest running chess teaching company in San Diego County (www.chesscamp.net). Founded by legendary International Chess Master Larry Evans, it has been in operation for over 30 years. We provide chess instruction to elementary school children all over San Diego County. We are currently looking to hire an additional teacher for our fall semester afterschool programs on site at our elementary schools in the Solana Beach School District area. The schedule would be one class per day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, with opportunities for additional shifts throughout the week if desired. Chess classes last one hour, and start times are between 2pm and 3pm. *Experience teaching/coaching chess is a huge plus, but not absolutely necessary* This is a great way to gain experience and build up your resume if you're considering a career in education! Requirements: 1) Must have reliable transportation to the class site which is usually located inside the school grounds or designated venue. 2) Enjoy working with children at elementary school levels. 3) Know the game of chess well enough to be comfortable teaching our beginners or intermediate students.
