Company: Placer Auctions Location: Fully Remote Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week) Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST Pay Rate: Negotiable About the Role Are you passionate about history, art, and the stories that objects tell? Do you have a detective's eye for detail and love the thrill of discovering the origin and value of a unique item? If so, Placer Auctions is looking for a dedicated and curious individual to join our team as an Antique & Collectible Cataloger. This is a key role that creates beautifully researched and documented titles and descriptions for our online auction marketplace. This is a fully remote position. Placer Auctions will provide all necessary digital materials, including high-resolution images, measurements, and condition reports. You will be responsible for providing the expert research, identification, and descriptive writing. Responsibilities Conduct in-depth research of items, including ceramics, glass, fine art, furniture, jewelry, militaria, ephemera, and other collectibles. Effectively use digital research tools like Google Lens, WorthPoint, eBay sold listings, auction house archives, and other specialized databases. Identify and document key details for each item, such as maker, pattern, period, style, materials, and origin. Write clear, concise, and accurate catalog descriptions that highlight significant features and historical context. Manage your own time and workflow to meet daily and weekly cataloging deadlines. A Cataloging Example The quality of our cataloging is everything. It drives search visibility and gives buyers the confidence to bid. You have strong writing skills with excellent grammar and spelling and can describe items clearly and accurately. You have a keen eye for detail and notice the small things that others might miss. You're a self-starter who can manage your own time and hit deadlines without being micromanaged. You're comfortable with computers and learning to use new websites and software. No professional cataloging experience is needed. We're more interested in your passion and research skills.
