Chartis’ goal is to support buyers, providers and investors with decision making as they drive business performance through better risk management, corporate governance and compliance; we help our clients make informed technology and business decisions by providing in-depth analysis and actionable advice on virtually all aspects of risk technology.   With AI technology on an accelerated curve of both its innovation and adoption, we are looking for a Research Principal to progress our Research and Advisory business with respect to this technology in the financial services segment specifically.  The individual must be able to evaluate vendor strategies and offerings that incorporate ML models and GenAI and present opinions as to applicability and effectiveness at meeting the needs in the marketplace.  Chartis prides itself on the rigor of its methodologies.  The individual must be comfortable with setting criteria for evaluating vendors and solutions with a structured defensible approach.   This is a chance to be part of a team providing invaluable thought leadership tailored to the needs of the risk tech marketplace – resulting in an unrivalled level of depth and insight upon which our clients have come to rely. The role will be based London or NY office. (No relocation available.) Foreign and domestic travel may be required as part of the role  Key Responsibilities  Define and conduct ongoing research and analysis of AI technology and aligned use cases within financial services to provide insight and decision support for Technology Vendors, Financial Institutions and Investment Firms. Execute aligned Quadrants/Rankings assessments as appropriate. Progress a distinct Chartis approach and structure on how to think about the intersection of AI with existing and road mapped offerings within financial services. Surface new opportunities for Chartis research coverage in the application of AI within risk management solutions and practices such that Chartis can be relied on as a thought leader. ·         Have the intellectual curiosity to understand and assess use cases that span across the spectrum of risk management within financial services to help clients make informed technology and business decisions. Keep informed on AI technology-related research by reading, and networking with clients, vendors and analysts, to evaluate and analyse this market. Actively participate in internal Research Meetings and help socialize research thinking and new insights and positions. Provide sales support to the US-based team by speaking to prospective and existing clients via telephone, videoconference and by making face-to face sales calls with Chartis sales personnel and by delivering presentations as needed (small meetings, briefings and seminars/conferences). Provide individualized consulting for clients, which involve presentations of Chartis Research and/or findings to individual companies. Be able to discuss AI strategy, its application and the wider risk technology trends that are shaping this market, to CROs, CEOs, Senior Risk managers, IT managers, and with CIOs/CCOs. Requirements 5+ years’ experience working within the field of quantitative analytics and machine learning: a Bachelor's degree in related field; Masters preferred. Working experience and knowledge about AI’s application in financial services including how it is becoming embedded in distinctive and useful solutions that further goals of providers and buyers.  Demonstrate academic knowledge of the technology and an understanding of the regulatory considerations that are global in nature.  Strong communicator with evidence of excellent verbal and written skills, with an ability to explain complex concepts both concisely and simply. Highly process-driven with strong analytical capabilities, the ability to task switch, be happy with new challenges, and be able to share opinions and receive feedback from colleagues. Be willing to push new ideas and opinions to peers, clients and the wider market.  Being known in the industry, presenting to large audiences, contributing to press articles, etc., are all desirable. Proficiency as an adept experimentalist with hands-on experience in the process development of polymeric materials and their characterization in an R&D or manufacturing environment. Mathematically inclined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to be observant and to think creatively.  Demonstrated ability to design experiments and analyze data with the use of appropriate quality and statistical methodologies. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as be a strong team contributor. Ability to effectively work within a team and cross-functionally to expedite the completion of critical project tasks. Requires understanding of product/process design and engineering. Experience should include process development/validation and/or transfer/verification, protocols, and troubleshooting skills. Ability to handle multiple project assignments of medium scope and complexity and able to prioritize and complete work with a sense of urgency on time. Ability to lead directly and by influence, including strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and analytical skills.
