This leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the future of medical diagnostics by spearheading AI-powered innovations that directly impact patient outcomes. As the Head of Data Science/ML, you will lead the development of user-centric, scalable data products derived from proprietary sensing technologies. You'll work cross-functionally with Product and Engineering to drive strategic initiatives and bring transformative medical tools to market. This is a hands-on leadership position for a results-driven professional with a passion for healthcare innovation and real-world impact. Accountabilities: Collaborate with Product and Engineering to define and execute the data product vision and roadmap, incorporating ML capabilities where beneficial. Lead the Data Science/ML team in designing, developing, and scaling data products that convert clinical signals into actionable insights. Translate user needs, clinical feedback, and business objectives into clear technical requirements and prototypes through iterative development. Establish and track OKRs for the DS/ML function, ensuring timely delivery, scalability, and performance of solutions in production environments. Balance fast-paced execution with high standards in research, keeping up with cutting-edge ML techniques and their real-world applicability. Serve as a key representative of the organization to clinical, regulatory, and industry partners; elevate the team’s profile through publications, conferences, and external collaborations. Mentor and grow a high-performing, multidisciplinary data science team while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. Requirements 10+ years of experience in engineering and product leadership roles, including hands-on development and managing technical teams. Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in engineering, computer science, AI/ML, mathematics, or a related field. Proven success delivering AI-driven medical software or data products from concept to commercialization (stages 0-4+). Strong ability to communicate technical strategies and outcomes at the executive level and across cross-functional teams. Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary teams with a user-first approach, balancing clinical needs, business goals, and technical feasibility. Action-oriented mindset, capable of driving innovation while navigating time-sensitive product development cycles. Willingness and ability to work onsite at the Palo Alto office at least 50% of the time. Nice to Have: Experience in cardiovascular devices or deep knowledge of cardiac electrophysiology.
