Plans each issue and coordinates the flow of copy. 3. Communicates clearly and consistently with reporters and editors. Resolves problems, sets schedules, and maintains high standards for news quality. 4. Has an understanding of tax law basics and terminology, as well as a thorough understanding of congressional and regulatory procedures. 5. Edits for substance, style, and accuracy, conducts research as needed, and ensures proper style, according to established policies and procedures. 6. Responsible for long-range planning, including assessing needs for graphics and other resources to complete assignments. 7. Participates in company-sponsored conferences, roundtable discussions, etc. 8. Adheres to company style guide and established publication deadlines. 9. Supervises subordinate staff, including hiring, recommending raises, disciplinary actions, and termination. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Demonstrated strong knowledge of writing and editing concepts and principles. Must be able to evaluate content for grammar, clarity, and coherence. Understanding of key principles in tax policy. Ability to write and edit stories on complex topics in a way that is accessible to educated individuals who are not experts in every field of tax law.
