Our Firm assists property and business owners, real estate developers, contractors, architects, engineers, and managing agents by advising about City regulations and how to maintain compliance. We are currently looking to hire a full-time Building Code & Zoning Specialist. This is a wonderful opportunity for a retired Class 2 Expediter, Architect or Engineer looking to stay involved in the construction field and make some extra money. This is a full-time opportunity using the knowledge you already possess. Our office located in Central Manhattan. Primary Responsibilities (include the following, but are not limited to): • Possess in-depth knowledge of NYC construction codes and the NYC Zoning Resolution. • Conduct code and zoning consultations, including the preparation of detailed reports and analyses. (we will provide the templates for these reports) • Prepare CCD (Construction Code Determination) and ZRD (Zoning Resolution Determination) applications for obtaining code and zoning variances. • Support project managers in devising effective filing strategies for various types of construction projects. • Provide expert guidance on the interpretation of building codes and zoning regulations during project planning and execution. • Assist in the risk assessment of projects by evaluating potential code and zoning challenges. • Develop and maintain a database of common code and zoning issues encountered in past projects to streamline future consultation processes. Key requirements: • Knowledgeable in Chapter 33 of the NYC Building Code • Should be a Class 2 filing representative or an RA/PE. • Proficient with DOB on-line systems for research (BIS, DOB Now and E-filing) • Understanding of DOB project filing techniques and strategies • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is a punctual, reliable, team player with a good work ethic and who enjoys a rewarding and fast-paced work environment.
