Description

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Specialty Services along with the Dental Assistant Supervisor and the general supervision of a licensed dentist, the Dental Assistant (DA) performs supportive dental procedures specified by codes and regulations of the Dental Board of California. The DA works with dental providers (DDS) assisting with various clinical procedures, recognized by the California Dental Practice Act. This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday with periodic Saturday hours. Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center is a non-profit community health center that is dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of our community by providing accessible, high-quality care by integrating primary care, dental care, WIC support, mental health counseling, community health education, and more. Compensation: $24.47 - $26.74 per hour, depending on experience. This position is represented by SEIU, with compensation and benefits determined by the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Salary is based on the wage scales outlined in the agreement. Beyond base pay, TVHC provides a comprehensive compensation package that supports the health, wealth, and career development of our employees. Responsibilities: Greets patients in the waiting area and escorts patients to the operatory, and assures completion of forms and signatures. Reviews medical history and treatment as needed and explains necessary dental treatment or procedures to patients. Checks the daily schedule to set up appropriate trays and instruments. Assists with various procedures, which include but are not limited to charting, taking and pouring up of impressions, and other chair-side duties. Adheres to “Universal Precautions” and general office safety measures. Stocks operatories and necessary dental supplies and mounts necessary x-rays per protocol. Delivers Oral Hygiene instruction etc. in accordance with protocol. Maintains electronic health record entries for each patient visit. Meets the Service Excellence Standards of TVHC, Inc. Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor. Requirements High school diploma (or GED) required. BLS Certification required. Ability to communicate in English and Spanish required. Certified and/or Dental Assistant Certificate required. Minimum of one-year of recent experience as a DA required. Minimum of one-year experience in a non-profit setting preferred. Qualifications: Must have good communication skills, and knowledge of dental health education subjects. Must demonstrate professionalism at all times. Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends. Must have the ability to travel to various clinic sites. POSITION SUMMARY The General Dentist is responsible for administering, maintaining, and expanding a program of primary (and in selected cases, secondary) care and preventive dental care in a group practice setting. The Dental Receptionist performs a wide variety of clerical duties in support of patient services across multiple sites and serves as the focal point for the Dental appointment system. This position is a key factor in the workflow and day-to-day operations of the Clinic. The position is considered a crucial link between the patient and the care delivered by the clinical and service staff of the center. This individual must work collaboratively with all Clinical services staff in support of direct patient services. Essential duties include providing excellent customer/patient services via phone and in person; referring callers to the appropriate departments; making appointments for patients according to established Center protocols; assisting patients/clients with forms; establishing and maintaining patient records files, retrieving and monitoring the location of dental records; generating paperwork to register patients for Center services and triage appointments for Dental Staff. Responsibilities: Performs day-to-day administrative functions and general office duties including but not limited to word processing, copying, filing, faxing, answering phones and data entry. Maintains patient waiting areas, office files, and front-desk areas in a manner that is organized and neat. Must exercise utmost diplomacy and tact to provide excellent customer service for patients, practices confidentiality and privacy protocols in accordance to Clinic policies and HIPAA requirements.
