Description

The Retail Food Cook will prepare a variety of menu items for service following established preparation guidelines using a griddle, char broiler, deep fat fryer and pizza oven to prepare food to order within forecasted and planned amounts. They will complete all assigned work ensuring high quality and timely meal preparation and following all standards of quality and sanitation. The Retail Foods Cook will prepare food products in customer service areas serving and interacting with customers in a friendly and courteous manner. They will assist members of the culinary team with executing meal service and be willing and able to take direction and guidance from more senior cooks. This is a full time, benefits eligible, hourly position with a hiring range of $19.92 - $24.40 per hour. Standard hours for the nighttime cook are 4 pm to 12:30 am which includes shift differential for qualifying hours: Evenings from 6 p.m. - 12 a.m. is an additional $1.50 per hour Weekends is an additional $1.00 per hour. Core Responsibilities: Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.   Leads in food production work includes cutting vegetables, meats & cheeses, some oven & toaster work   Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures. Observe proper food storage and handling procedures to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment.   May on occasion, serve alcohol to a diverse population. Sale of such alcohol must conform to a laws set forth be the Vermont DLC. Must past certification course from DLC of Vermont   Observe proper food storage and handling procedures to ensure a safe and sanitary work environment. Assist in receiving and taking deliveries.   Ensure the highest standards in sanitary BOH procedures, fill out temp and time sheets, follow cleaning checklists, Food storage and prep areas are clean and always maintained. Following VT safety and sanitary standards every shift.   May on occasion be asked to work on POS and help cover other dining operations, be versed on basics for cash operations.   Always cleaning work areas, including counters, floors, dishes, and related equipment and ensures they are in proper sanitary condition Requirements Successful completion of Safe Serve Food Service Sanitation Certificate that will be administered during training period.   Minimum three years of experience as a cook and experience or training in cold food preparation, food storage and shelf life, basic kitchen work, with knowledge of food service cleanliness and sanitation standards Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Must be able to stand during the duration of a shift (excluding breaks), as well as frequent bending and overhead reaching with twisting motions. Must be able to lift 10-20# numerous times during the day and up to 50lbs several times each day, must be able to push and pull up to 70lbs frequently.  Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
