Position: Sushi Chef Department: Operations Reports To: Management FSLA Status: Non-Exempt Wage: $23–$27 (dependent on experience) Job Description: Sushi concept inside Vanderbilt Market seeking a Sushi Chef. Experience: 1–3 years of experience in a comparable position. Role and Responsibilities: - Complete opening and closing procedures in a timely manner - Prepare dishes according to recipes and company standards - Ensure the quality and freshness of ingredients used in daily preparation - Teamwork: Work collaboratively with members of the service team - Organized, detail-oriented, precise, punctual, and reliable are essential qualities - Ensure cleanliness of the entire workstation - Perform hourly, daily, and weekly cleaning and preparation tasks - Maintain the highest standards of food safety and sanitation practices with strong attention to detail - Maintain a positive attitude, be a team player, and present a professional appearance as a chef Skills and Knowledge: - Previous experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role is preferred - Knowledge of sushi preparation techniques and plating presentation - Familiarity with different types of fish and ingredients - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple orders simultaneously - Strong attention to detail and knowledge of food safety regulations Physical Abilities: - Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds - Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods - Ability to communicate effectively and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with coworkers and guests Schedule: - 8-hour shifts - Day shifts available - Evening shifts available - Restaurant open Monday through Sunday - 5 to 6 days per week The above statements are not intended to encompass all functions and qualifications of this position.
