The Living Room is advancing innovative approaches to support women and children experiencing homelessness establish a stable and flourishing life. Our efforts are focused on serving with housing, wrap-around services, outreach, and focused financial assistance. We also serve hot meals and meal boxes. Job Title: Accountant Reports To: Executive Director Status: Full-Time/Exempt Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Accountant is responsible for the accounts receivable/payable, revenue functions and provides back-up payroll. The Accountant works closely and collaboratively with the Executive Director and program staff to ensure sound financial management of grants and contract awards, and compliance with funding source guidelines. The Accountant will have strong ethics and maintain the integrity, accuracy, and prudence of The Living Room’s finances. Job Duties: Accounting: Prepare all monthly/quarterly grant and contract invoices and financial/compliance reports Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization Ensure timely submission and collection of receivables Accounts payable functions and back up payroll processing Develop, review, and present monthly projection-based financials to the finance committee Monitor and manage cash-flow Responsible for managing petty cash Support Executive Director with a monthly fiscal review for each department Prepare the annual budget in collaboration with the Executive Director Maintain accuracy of fiscal policy manual and update procedures as needed Perform the annual budget process Manage the entire financial audit process Assist Executive Director including review of contracts, amendments, and invoices Process all incoming AP with approvals Maintain and update agency accounting files including filing Process all credit card reconciliations Support month-end processing as required Maintain Accounting internal controls Reconciles agency donor database Receive and process all incoming monetary donations Board & Events Provides all financial reports for board finance committee meetings A member of the Finance Committee Attends and reconciles event financial transactions Responsible for securing the financial data at events Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee works both indoors and outdoors On occasion, may be exposed to equipment vibrations, noises, and odors, wet and/or slippery surfaces May include traveling to meetings, conferences, and work assignments The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and often work in a shared space Some evenings and weekends are required for community functions and events Required to work one center/kitchen shift (2 hrs.) per week Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
