The primary role of this position is to operate the garbanzo cleaning facility. Cleaning months are typically September-April, with operation intermittent at times depending on markets and product availability. When there is not cleaning work to be done, there is work on the farm side of things. Prior cleaning experience is preferred but not required, looking for someone who is not afraid of hard work. Washing machinery at end of season. June-July (40-50 hrs/wk): Summer projects, elevator maintenance, grain bin construction. July-September (90-100 hrs/wk): Harvest. Combining, bank out wagon driving, truck driving, and repairs as needed. September-October (65-80 hrs/wk): Fall field work. This work includes harrowing, seeding, fertilizing, spraying, truck driving and many other tasks to get crops planted and established. Fall tillage to prepare for upcoming spring work. October-December (40 hrs/wk): Cleaning and shipping chickpeas. Overseeing and operating the cleaning, sizing, sorting and packaging equipment.
