The Laborer / Carpenter Apprentice helps with many project tasks including, but not limited to, prepping the work areas, staging supplies and tools, and assisting with framing, trimming, installing siding, windows, doors and cabinets. Cleans the work area frequently during the day and before the end of the shift. Keeps tools, supplies and equipment organized and in good repair. This position is non-exempt from overtime (paid for overtime) and reports to the Lead Carpenter and the Superintendent. We are willing to train you in the carpentry trade if you have prompt attendance, a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, an interest in residential construction, and are physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. ● Professional and ethical demeanor. ● Excellent attention to detail. ● Ability to communicate in English. ● Intermediate math knowledge (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) is not required as a laborer, but is required for those wanting to train into carpenter positions in the future. ● Willingness to follow all safety rules. ● Reliable personal transportation and an acceptable driving record. ● Physically able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds individually and heavier loads with the help of others. ● Willing and able to work at construction sites with inherent hazards such as energized tools and lines; slips, trips and falls; falling materials; elevated walking and working surfaces; materials handling; noise; inclement weather; uneven working and walking areas; pneumatic equipment; traffic; etc. ● Consistent and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
