Head Cook/Kitchen Manager Upscale Mexican & Latin American Restaurant (Gaithersburg)
We are opening a new upscale Mexican & Latin American restaurant in the vibrant Airpark area of Gaithersburg, MD, and we are looking for a talented Head Cook / Kitchen Manager to join our team from the ground up. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the identity of a modern, vibrant restaurant concept with a focus on authentic flavors, creative presentation, and a welcoming upscale dining experience.
Responsibilities:
⢠Develop and propose a complete restaurant food menu, combining authentic Mexican dishes with creative Latin American influences.
⢠Oversee all kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, plating, inventory, cleaning, and compliance with health & safety standards.
⢠Lead by example in a multi-tasking environment, especially during the early phases when the team will be small and hands-on involvement is essential.
⢠Collaborate with ownership and future team members to establish consistent recipes, portioning, and plating standards.
⢠Train and mentor additional cooks and kitchen staff as the business grows.
⢠Maintain cost control and ensure high-quality food execution at all times.
Requirements:
⢠Proven experience as a Head Cook, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager, preferably in Mexican or Latin American cuisine.
⢠Strong creativity and willingness to innovate while respecting authentic culinary traditions.
⢠Ability to work under a multi-tasking environment and manage all aspects of kitchen operations.
⢠Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a team-player attitude.
⢠Bilingual: Spanish and English required.
⢠Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt in a growing restaurant environment.
