Summary of Position: The Bar Barista prepares and serves beverages such as coffee, tea, specialty drinks, and, where applicable, alcohol. Responsibilities include following all liquor laws and regulations when serving alcoholic beverages, greeting guests warmly, and professionally representing the hotel. The Barista ensures accurate billing by properly charging customers, collecting payments, and providing correct receipts. Additional duties include heating and serving ready-to-eat food, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean and orderly coffee bar, work area, and lobby to ensure a welcoming environment for guests. This position is looking for weekend morning availability for from 5:30 am-1:00 pm. Key Responsibilities: o Greet and assist guests with a friendly and professional demeanor o Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, beverages that contain alcohol, and other beverages to the hotel's quality standards o Handle cash and card transactions accurately, ensuring proper cash handling procedures o Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee shop, including workstations, equipment, and seating areas o Restock supplies and ingredients as needed to ensure a seamless operation o Provide information on menu items, making recommendations based on guest preferences o Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, including food safety and sanitation standards o Manage inventory and report any shortages or discrepancies to the manager o Work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays o Perform other duties as assigned by the management team Minimum Education o High School diploma or GED equivalent Minimum Experience o TAPs Card certification preferred (21+ preferred for this position, as we do serve alcohol as well) o Food Handler’s Card certification o Previous experience as a barista or in a similar customer service role, preferably in a high-volume coffee shop or café o Familiarity with coffee brewing equipment and techniques o Familiarity with serving alcoholic beverages to guests Skills/Abilities o Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills o Demonstrates integrity, honesty, and a cooperative attitude o Professional appearance and a polite, positive demeanor o Excellent reasoning and problem-solving abilities o Strong teamwork skills and a genuine desire to serve people o Ability to work quickly and safely under pressure required Benefits o Competitive union hourly wage o Eligible employees can have access to comprehensive benefits package including health, vision, and dental o Eligible employees can have access to a pension fund after a year o Eligible employees can be provided with a uniform o 401(k) retirement savings plan to secure your future o Opportunities for professional growth and advancement within the hotel o Work in a supportive and dynamic environment that fosters professional and personal development Application Process Interested candidates can apply online or apply in person at the Hotel Captain Cook HR office.
