ABOUT THE ROLE: The Café serves as the store’s epicenter for nourishing, ready to eat, drinks and meals. The team serves chef-created, farm-to-table food by the pound for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Each member will build an expertise in espresso, tea, smoothies, and the creation of seasonal beverages. The role is fast-paced and requires the ability to create a consistent and friendly experience for our customers while maintaining a highly organized space in our open kitchen. ABOUT THE TEAM: Our Café Team serves seasonal deli-style food by the pound, rotisserie classics, prepared foods and grab & go dishes made by our kitchen team using the same farm direct ingredients you can shop in the store. The Café Team also serves sustainably sourced coffee, teas, house-made shrubs, tonics and smoothies. Each member of the Cafe Team is an active participant working toward our mission of exploring generative food systems. WHAT YOUR TYPICAL DAY WILL INCLUDE: **This job description is not meant to be an all-inclusive list of duties, responsibilities and requirements, but constitutes a general definition of the position's scope and function within our company. LAG&C reserves the right to amend and change duties, responsibilities, and requirements to meet changing industry or business needs as necessary. -Ensure all opening and closing procedures have been completed. -Educate daily about café menu specials. -Create a beautiful pastry display that is labeled properly. -Make sure all menus are up to date. -Take orders and serve customers with a positive, timely and willing attitude. -Ring up and check out customers efficiently -Assist customer questions about suggestions, preferences, allergens and/or preparations. -Follow LAG&C standards for serving, weighing and packaging food by the pound. -Prep made to order beverages like espresso drinks, matcha, and smoothies. -Prep batched beverages like shrubs, milk tea, and house made nut milk -Prep fruit and vegetable ingredients, as needed. -Ensure and maintain an organized, clean, stocked, and sanitary work area. -Follow the health department’s food safety and handling procedures. -Follow the employee handbook at all times, especially on service standards and appearance. WHAT YOU’LL BRING: -Experience in a fast-paced food service environment. -Barista + espresso experience. -Passion for warm hospitality and quality customer service. -Interest in seasonal produce and thoughtfully sourced products. -Proficient point of sale experience. -Proficient at cash reconciliation. -Acute attention to detail when it comes to product quality, presentation and food safety. -Strong verbal communication skills -Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with management, co-workers and customers that contribute to a productive and joyous team environment. -Exemplifies company guidelines/protocols, workplace safety and health department standards. -Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, as needed. -Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. -Possess full body mobility (bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching) JOB TYPE + COMPENSATION RANGE Full-Time Open Availability Hourly $18-$19/hour plus tips WHAT WE OFFER: Competitive pay rates, a generous store discount, healthcare options, accrued paid sick time, professional development and growth opportunities.
