Competitive Pay: $65 - $85 per hour and a half session Travel Compensation: Provided for trips over 15 miles (30 miles roundtrip) from the employee’s home or work location. Lead instructor Essentials: A Lead Instructor must be able to reach most or all of our classes in the metropolitan areas – reliable transportation is essential. Conduct interactive, friendly, and fun classes with 10-15 kids Minimum of 4 years of experience in teaching, tutoring, or as a camp counselor. Lead Instructors are expected to set the example of what the best Chess Wizards experience should be for our four customer groups: Kids, Parents, School Administration, and Fellow Colleagues, in full alignment with the Chess Wizards Mission Statement. Must be available during the after-school hours at least 4 days per week. Our preference is availability 5 days a week, for our peak program weeks during the fall, winter, and spring sessions (semesters). We will ensure that you have a full Monday-Friday after-school schedule during our peak program weeks, provided that we have classes scheduled for that day. Actual class start time will vary, depending on the assignment. Most of our classes begin directly after each school’s afternoon dismissal bell, which is usually between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Our standard program time is one hour. Teachers must arrive 15 minutes prior to the program start time to set up and prepare, and stay until all students have been safely dismissed to an authorized adult. Our Lead Teachers are paid per class, with a total average time commitment of 1.5-2 hours (not including commute). Official class times that are longer than one hour pay more, appropriate to the extra time added. Lead Instructors are our first scheduling choice for day camp opportunities during the winter, spring, and summer breaks! Assist their local Area Manager in ensuring that all our programs and instructors are visited by management for coaching, customer conversations, and quality control. Assist with the training, coaching, and performance evaluation of our instructors. Help troubleshoot and resolve program challenges. Complete class evaluation reports and discuss them with their supervisor. Communicate daily during programming season with their supervisor. Speak regularly with school administration and parents during site visits, gather feedback, and assist with customer service and marketing efforts. Guide Students to Success! Manhattan-based education company is looking to staff after-school and weekend SHSAT in-person classes. Our winter courses beginning in November each comprise 12 weekly classes, each 2.5 hours long, for a total of 30 hours per cohort. We are seeking a responsible, organized educator who has a passion for teaching and a winning personality. We are interested in a presentable teacher who is engaging, enthusiastic, and articulate. As the teacher for this course, you will be responsible for: engaging students to learn from a provided curriculum in a patient, affirming manner leading a classroom (of 8-25 students) through both ELA and Math SHSAT instruction resolving classroom management matters with your Teaching Assistant and/or Operations Associate communicate with management about the course progress, student behavior, and other relevant matters Benefits Consistency in an inconsistent field: it can be difficult to cobble together enough hours in this industry. Our classes happen regularly throughout the year, even during the traditionally "slow" periods. Our courses each comprise 26 non-consecutive weekly classes, each 2.5 hours long, for a total of 65 hours per cohort per school year (September-June), though we hire one semester at a time. High compensation rewards you for your experience! Pay builds from $80-120 per hour, or $200-300 per class, according to the following schedule (this only applies to SHSAT classes): Up to two weekly SHSAT classes: $80 per hour Third and fourth concurrent weekly SHSAT classes: $90 per hour Fifth and sixth concurrent weekly SHSAT classes: $100 per hour And so on, up to the max possible 9th weekly SHSAT class, which will pay $120 per hour. Our most prolific teachers have taught up to 9 cohorts per week, for a total of over $40,000 from September - June!
