Do you want to work in bicycle shop that gives you Sundays and Mondays off so you can ride, spend time with friends and family, and have personal time? Do you love bikes as much as we do? Do you find the mechanical workings of bicycles fascinating? Do you want to learn more about how to work on bike and get paid to do it? Well, you're in luck! Bicycles East is now looking to add another bicycle mechanic and bike builder to its team! The ideal applicant has in-shop experience actually working on bikes but not required, and have exceptional mechanical aptitude. We're looking for a highly-motivated individual who's comfortable not only with building and servicing bicycles, but also interacting with our customers and other members of the cycling community. Mechanic tasks include, but are not limited to, full tune-ups and overhauls; rim brakes as well as mechanical and hydraulic disc brake work, derailleur adjustments, wheel truing, and more. All employees perform additional tasks as needed, including but not limited to, taking bikes up and down stairs and on and off racks, housekeeping such as sweeping, dusting, and taking trash out. Comfort on the computer is necessary. The employee must be able to perform some lifting and moving. Specifically, the job requires the ability to lift a bicycle (over 40 pounds) onto and off of an overhead rack, up and down stairs, and to move boxes with racks and bicycles up to 60 pounds.
