We are seeking a reliable and safety-minded Warehouse Freight Staff member to join our Freight Department. Responsibilities: • Safely load and unload granite, stone, and quartz slabs from trucks and containers. • Pull slabs from warehouse racks and move to designated loading areas using cranes. • Verify quantity and quality of incoming and outgoing orders. • Pack and load delivery frames with jobs scheduled for delivery. • Offload slab deliveries; label materials with job numbers and record storage locations. • Consolidate slabs on inside racks to maximize storage and safety. • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks (training provided). • Complete daily forklift inspections. • Assist with inventory of slab racks and remnants. • Maintain a clean and safe warehouse, including clearing shop entrances, carts, trash, and hoppers. • Deliver and pick up materials as assigned, moving company trucks as needed. • Support company goals, policies, and safety standards. Qualifications: • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team. • Strong work ethic, reliability, and accountability. • Commitment to safety and quality customer service. • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs. daily and perform labor-intensive tasks. • Valid California Driver’s License with a clean driving record (required). • Prior warehouse, freight handling, or forklift experience preferred, but not required. Job Summary: Eastern Drayage is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Yard Worker to join our team. This role involves handling materials, operating forklifts, assisting with rigging and slinging, and ensuring safe loading and unloading operations. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in various weather conditions and following all safety guidelines. Key Responsibilities: Must have had experience operating lifts at a capacity of 35,000 lbs. Emphasis on experience with loading and unloading steel pipe. Handle tools and lashing materials as necessary. Place or remove dunnage, including materials resting on transport surfaces or stacks of pipe. Stay clear of all suspended loads during loading and discharge operations. Hook and unhook lifting gear as required. Understand and apply the fundamentals of rigging and slinging. Operate forklifts safely and efficiently. Dismantle and store rigging/slinging equipment after use. Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure worker and cargo safety. Follow all safety protocols and guidelines. Climb up or down containers to access materials. Qualifications & Skills: Minimum of 3 yrs specifically with experience in bulk commodities and out of gauge materials. Prior experience in a yard or warehouse environment preferred. Knowledge of rigging and slinging fundamentals. Ability to operate forklifts (certification preferred or willingness to obtain). Strong awareness of workplace safety procedures. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team. Physical ability to climb, lift, and perform manual labor as needed.
