Description

A small to medium size business on the west side (I70 exit hague or wilson rd) is looking for an office manager. The current person is leaving this post after 9 years on excellent terms and will be part of the interview, hiring and training process. Full time position with benefits - though if manned by an organized person this could mean ~32 hrs / week. for more info and how to best contact us in regards to this position please send the requested information in .pdf format. Since this craigslist job listing created more than 25 leads in less than 24 hours, here are some disclaimers and additional info to hopefully help save all parties involved a lot of time : - please try and follow the instructions in this listing, they are there for a reason as attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions is presumably important in any type of profession. - there is absolutely no smoking anywhere on our property. - we start at 6:30AM. yes - this is NOT for everyone, but if you love commuting from the other side of town and still getting to work in 20 mins or less, if you love not sitting in rush hour traffic every day and if you love efficiency as in having a full time job but still being able to go to home depot or the grocery store after work without fighting the crowd and getting home in time for dinner, then please go down the rest of the list. (We also tend to work only until lunch on fridays and the office manager often can take friday off completely) - in your initial email please state if you are currently employed if not evident in your resume. If you are not currently employed feel free to disclose what the reason for that is, as it will be the first question anyone will ask you. - if you are currently employed please mention when you could be available for an interview. We run a 6:30AM to 3:30PM business but could naturally come in early or stay late for candidates we would be interested in speaking to. Also feel free to mention what your motivation is to change employers, careers or industries, as it will be the first question anyone will ask you. - please read the listing and ask yourself as you are reading over your resume "do i really have any of the skills and requirements that are listed?" and furthermore "do i believe i would be a good fit for this company? Am I in any way even remotely interested in what this company does? Can I see myself be part of that industry for a decade?". - the reason why a cover letter is requested is so you can outline how your skill set and past experiences actually match our requirements and tasks. If you are struggling matching the two, or at least making it sound like you have aspirations of becoming a good fit, we will struggle seeing it as well. - this is not a race or first come, first serve - take your time, have someone proofread your resume if you do not trust spell check, we all make typos but when sending in a resume and cover letter full of mistakes it shows how much you care about a job / your career. Misspelling a name or leaving the last companies name that you sent your information to is a regrettable faux pas. - we only want to hire for this position once (maybe add another when we reach 49 FTEs) so we will take our time and try and read through everyone's documents thoroughly and invite potential candidates for at least one interview, maybe two or three if we are lucky enough to have choices. - if you have any large (6 months or more) gaps in your employment history, feel free to elaborate on what the reason for those gaps were, as it will most likely be the second question anyone asks you. in summary : - if you are sending the same resume to every other job listing to see "what sticks" - save yourself (and us) the time - we are a small company, we do not have an HR department with 60 interns getting paid zilch to read all of these documents and pick out the 2 that could be seriously considered. - if you had more than 5 jobs in the last 3 years, you are probably not the right fit for us. - and last but not least, if you are invited for an interview and you are late without a reasonable excuse for a first job interview (no fault car crash, acts of god e.g. tornadoes, snowstorm, etc.) there is NO DOUBT you are not the right person for us or any small company comprised of hard working people. as you can tell there are lots of emotions involved - we are a young team and care about what we do and how we do it. we love being efficient, getting things done, sometimes dominating our industry and pride ourselves on our work ethic. There are good days and bad days, but mostly we are excited to come to work and be productive - we want to be excited about hiring another person and taking another step towards growth (and world dominance - yes, we laugh a lot at work too ;-)).
