talent for action/comedy homage to kung fu while updated (Arlington va)
Hello Jay Nance here I’m a Washington DC writer/director/producer in search of talent (acting plus it helps to have a martial arts or stunt performance backgrounds) This project is special to me as it pays homage to kung fu films I grew up watching Shaolin vs Lama / Drunken Master/ Five Elements Ninjas/ Yes Madam/Righting Wrongs just to name a few but also updated for this generation. No wire work Just old school fighting/comedy One Good Punch Logline When a blue-collar dad’s daughter’s mysterious birthday gift is stolen in a robbery, he dusts off his rusty karate skills — and, with the help of a “speed-fist” drug that gives him temporary superhuman reflexes — launches into a chaotic, kung-fu-fueled quest to get it back. But when the drug wears off, only courage and pure dad determination can finish the fight. Note: Although the role is written for a male lead ..Im also in women audition for lead as well ( must have martial arts training and prepared to perform stunts (in a safely manner/ nothing too crazy) This will be a paid gig. I am also in search of extras / talent for street thugs Main Characters • DAVE THOMASSON – construction worker, loves kung fu movies and libraries. Bit of a dork, kind heart, tries hard but always slightly off-beat. (Note: Women also can audition as if I’ve found the right talent/ lead plans will change) • MAYA THOMASSON – 10, sharp, creative, adores her dad. Her birthday “mystery gift” becomes the film’s MacGuffin. • MASTER/ TEACHER / “Paul” Dave’s karate instructor. Dry humor, hates being called “Master.” Ex–martial artist who runs a strip-mall dojo and moonlights at GNC. • THUG CREW – a gang of modern-day street crooks (stylish, TikTok-age villains) who underestimate Dave. • WIFE / EX-WIFE – pragmatic, funny, doesn’t believe Dave’s kung fu obsession is ever useful… until it is.
