Offering an unusual DIY fixer-upper with some problems but great potential as shown by this recent summary of original specs: "The 1996 Jaguar XJR's supercharged 4.0L in-line 6 cylinder engine delivers 322 horsepower at 5000 RPM and 378 lb-ft of torque at 3050" RPM. This powertrain, along with a 4-speed automatic transmission, allows the XJR to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 155 mph." WOW! Moreover, (a) This is a rare vehicle almost impossible to find now anywhere in the States (b) It attracts a lot of attention (c) It is really exciting to drive (d) It has an elegant cream-colored inside decor with woodgrain inserts (e) It has white-walled tires still in good condition, fitted with OEM chrome wire wheels and the signature Jag hub (e) It has a retractable sunroof (f) New fuel pump (g) It has a clear Maryland title in just my name, backed by a third-party VIN search However, it has some unresolved issues: (1) MD registration was allowed to lapse on 1/31/2024 and has not been used since so shows as expired and invalid on DMV website (2) It needs a new exterior paint job (3) A pinhole leak in the gas tank found by my mechanic (who got it running fairly easily) forced me to remove the tank, which could either be repaired using a clever DIY workaround divulged by a welder, or replaced by a good used twin tank (hard to find) or replaced by a brand new twin tank (a bit pricey at $710) (4) The center console between bucket seats was opened up to enable ready access to gear shifter when an easily replaceable part broke (5) The radio works but does not light up (6) The trunk lifters need repair (7) Good battery is included (8) Mileage is best guess estimate In sum, it will need to be towed away. A nearby mechanic can verify that the gas tank saga and the fact that it ran fine otherwise N.B. Since I am downsizing, this vehicle is being sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS, with no warranty, expressed, written or implied.
