WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Deeply understand the needs of our student, teacher, and parent users, and advocate for user experience throughout all phases of product development Deeply understand IXL’s product philosophy and strategy to make feature design and development decisions Gather context and clarify goals for new projects Write and communicate product requirements, conduct product reviews Collaborate with visual designers to co-create effective, engaging product experiences Partner with your engineering team to align technical designs with product needs and to clear implementation roadblocks Collaborate with marketing to ensure successful product launches, including crafting product positioning and messaging Coordinate with teams and leads across functions to share information, seek input, and provide clarity on product and project statuses Juggle multiple, often competing priorities and projects Forge strong partnerships with your product lead, designers, engineers, product marketers, and other key stakeholders to ensure the success of your products Become an expert on the IXL product, and gain domain knowledge in the education space broadly Do whatever it takes to develop features and deliver value to our users WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Bachelor’s degree in STEM or a related field Deeply understand IXL’s product philosophy and strategy to make feature design and development decisions 1-3 years of experience in product management or adjacent roles Demonstrated technical abilities; some computer science coursework or programming experience is preferred Highly developed analytical-reasoning and problem-solving skills, with proven success applying them independently Strong written and spoken communication skills, with an eye to clarity and conciseness Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across teams to make things happen Enthusiasm for tackling tough problems independently, from assessing high-level goals through to perfecting every details Exceptionally organized self-starter, efficient and thrives under pressure Interest in design thinking; some coursework or experience in UI/UX design is helpful Interest in K-12 education! Shepard Exposition Services is seeking a Manager, Structural Design to lead and oversee the Structural Design team, ensuring adherence to departmental standards, processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). This role encompasses recruitment, onboarding, and the ongoing development of team members. In addition, this role will provide both creative direction and technical expertise in the design and detailing of structures for trade show floors, lobbies, show management areas, and exhibit spaces for local and national events. Key Contributions of the Role Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Structural Design team, ensuring timely completion of new orders, rush requests, and standard turnaround times. Review and approve the team’s time cards, time off requests, expense reports, and other business-related submissions requiring managerial review. Lead departmental recruitment efforts, including reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and onboarding and training. Maintain and update departmental SOPs and design libraries. Coordinate with IT and the design team to ensure CAD software and equipment are up to date and fully functional. Requirements Minimum of 5 years of experience in convention services, exhibitions, or a closely related industry. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a client-focused approach. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in the following software platforms: Autodesk AutoCAD (required) Adobe Creative Cloud (general familiarity) 3DS Max (preferred, but not required) Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and WebEx Experience with various exhibit systems and components, including beMatrix, Maxima, Rexframe, and custom elements.
