Star Academy, a small non-public school for students with learning disabilities, needs a van driver. Applicants must have a clean DMV record, must clear DOJ and FBI fingerprinting, must have a TB clearance, and must be sensitive to the special needs of our population. We have students from all over the Bay Area who we transport to our school in San Rafael. This particular need is for a driver to transport 5 students at a time to Berkeley/Oakland on days school is in session. The driver would start in San Rafael, driving one of our newer and well-maintained vans, pick up students, and then drive them home in the afternoon. The pay for these routes depends on the destination, this route pays $77.00 per day. Approximate drive time is 2.5 hours. There is potential for additional routes. Pay is determined by the route. This is a contract position so that means drivers are paid per trip. Drivers are expected to be reliable, responsible, to be able to communicate clearly and respectfully with the Transportation Coordinator, with parents, with school staff, and above all, with students, and to maintain student safety at all times. Monitor and adhere to routine maintenance schedules, making sure all equipment receives necessary attention on time. Communicate findings and repair needs effectively with the maintenance supervisor and team to prioritize and allocate resources appropriately. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or degree in diesel technology preferred. 3 years of experience working as a diesel mechanic, with experience on semi-trucks, trailers, and buses. Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and repair equipment. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. General Position Description The maintenance technician will perform a variety of tasks on a 25-acre residential property. The technician will handle basic tasks in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and painting. The team keeps the units, buildings, and equipment maintained and repaired; handles unit inspections; responds to after-hour maintenance calls; ensures that the department has the required materials and supplies in inventory; works cooperatively with contractors and vendors servicing the property; and assists with keeping the maintenance shop in good order.
