Hello! We are opening a new cafe + marketplace in Montague MA and are hiring for dishwashers/ line cooks/ bakers and baristas! ABOUT US: Common Variety is a new day time cafe + market opening in Montague, MA in fall 2025. We focus on local, seasonal cooking and feature baked goods, breads, sandwiches, salads, soups and some prepared foods LINE COOK $18-$22/hr depending on experience : We are seeking a line cook who will focus on producing our made to order breakfast and lunch menu of sandwiches, salads, soups as well as some prepared foods for our grab and go case. RESPONSIBILITIES: Executing station set up to prepare for made to order service Executing prep list and all prep associated with station Executing service on station Processing seasonal produce Receiving, checking and putting away deliveries Ensure that all areas are clean and health department compliant BAKER $18-$22/hr depending on experience: We are seeking a baker who will focus on the production of our daily pastries and bread. This is a great position for someone who has an eye for detail and enjoys working with alternative flours. RESPONSIBILITIES: Executing daily morning bake off for the pastry counter Make biscuits, scones, muffins, cakes loaves and breads Execute any catering or special orders Break down seasonal produce Receive, check in and put away orders Maintain clean work environment BARISTA/COUNTER STAFF $15/hr + tips : We are seeking a barista who will produce our coffee and tea menu. This is a great position for someone who has an eye for detail and cares deeply about high quality coffee and teas. RESPONSIBILITIES: Executing all items from our drink menu in a timely manner Interact with customers and produce high quality service Work the POS system and take orders Communicate and answer questions regarding the menu Communicate with BOH staff Maintain clean work environment DISHWASHER: We are seeking a dishwasher/ prep cook who cares deeply about the cleanliness and organization of our space, and is comfortable completing some prep tasks in the kitchen. RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain a clean and organized dish pit Clean kitchen equipment including ovens and walk in refrigerator Maintain a clean dining room Complete some light kitchen prep tasks like processing vegetables REQUIREMENTS: Strong attention to detail Ability to follow directions and receive feedback Communicative, hardworking, organized Desire to work as part of a team Kind and respectful of teammates Willingness to learn and take ownership of mistakes - we are happy to train folks who are motivated to learn!
