Whatcom Community College invites candidates to apply for the Program Coordinator - Library (Class code 107N) position. The purpose of this role is to manage the reserves collection, perform journey level technical services operations, acquisitions and Interlibrary Loan (ILL), engage and inform employees & students of all library services and programs in general (emphasizing the reserve collection in particular) with a goal of increasing student access to primary and secondary educational material as well as contribute to student retention and success. Responsibilities Include but not limited to: Manage Reserves Collections: -Represent and promote the reserves collection program to departments on campus. -Plan, organize, and coordinate reserves program. -Establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse faculty, staff, and students; especially with colleagues who work in the Learning Commons. -Provide information and technical assistance to reserves program participants and library staff regarding content, guidelines, and practices. -Analyze and report program operations and outcomes, monitor and report program activities, and participate in continuous improvement efforts. -Work with Systems Librarian, Technical Services/Manager, and Circulation Services/Manager to inform reserve workflows in the -Library Service Platform. Circulation: -Perform circulation desk procedures such as (but not limited to): checking in and checking out materials, registering patrons, holds, record maintenance, request queues, etc. -Assist patrons with Whatcom Library Collaboration processes. -Assist patrons with questions and refer patrons to appropriate personnel. -Provide training and direction for part-time hourly employees and work study students. -Perform opening and/or closing procedures for the library. Interlibrary Loan: -Process WCC patron requests to borrow materials from other libraries. -Verify citation information and search for items in OCLC's WorldShare ILL. -Optimize suggested lending strings and request items. -Monitor request statuses and receipt of materials, update information in WorldShare and in tracking spreadsheets, and use Library Service Platform for resource sharing and analytics. -Process materials for check-out, notify patrons, and respond to renewal requests. -Monitor due dates and return materials to lending libraries. -Problem-solve receipt of wrong material, unfilled requests, overdue notices, and lost or damaged items. -Monitor and adjust form constant data for maximum efficiency. -Fulfill loan requests from other libraries, i.e., process WCC materials for lending to other libraries. -Verify desired materials and process them for shipment. -Update information in WorldShare and in tracking spreadsheets. -Monitor request statuses. -Problem-solve with the other libraries if there are any overdue or damaged materials. -Compile quarterly statistics and title reports. Technical Services, Acquisitions, and Purchasing: -Monitor and purchase office supplies using approved vendors; communicate with staff to determine supply needs. -Copy cataloging and update holdings in WorldCat. -Technical processing of collection materials; shelving of material and shifting of the collection; withdraw material. -Report preparations. -Simple graphic design. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: -High school diploma or equivalent, and three years' experience in the functional operations of a library or equivalent combination of education and experience. -Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and familiar with a Library Service Platform. -Ability to move (push-pull) full book trucks (estimated at 40 lbs,, occasionally between buildings) and organizing, in a very short period of time, large quantities of books and other instructional material. -Ability to operate a tabletop heat press, scanner, troubleshoot basic office equipment, and assist patrons with proper use of office equipment, e.g., copiers, scanners, printing issues. -Ability to frequently walk through the Learning Commons and climb stairs. Ability to shelf and retrieve material from highest and lowest shelves. Ability to reconfigure library shelving. Preferred Qualifications: -Experience working in education or a customer service position. -Associate degree in library technology and one year of experience in the functional operations of a library. -Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and building an inclusive environment. -Explain complex or technical information regarding rules, policies, procedures, programs or services to answer questions, resolve issues, and communication decision. -Extract and compile data to prepare narrative, statistical or other reports for information decision making. -Establish, revise, and/or maintain various kinds of filing systems. Salary: -This is a full-time, classified, WFSE (Washington Federation of State Employees) represented position. Salary is Range 41, starting at Step C, $3,840.00 per month with periodic increments to $4,771.00 per month. Benefits Package: -The position comes with a full benefit package, including health, dental, life, long-term disability insurance and a retirement plan. -Accrues 8 hours per month of sick leave and 11.33 hours per month vacation leave with periodic vacation accrual increases based on longevity. -11 paid holidays annually. -1 personal holiday annually after 4 months of continuous employment. -3 personal leave days annually after 4 months of continuous employment. *Additionally, as a Washington State, public higher education institution, WCC offers the following: -Whatcom Community College is a qualified employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (PSLF).
