Currently, we are seeking a qualified Controls Engineer to work collaboratively with our fabrication shop in Anderson, California. About the Position Program and tune multiple axis of motion control Program and debug PLCs and HMIs Design control systems used in high-performance machinery Plan and coordinate new equipment installations Supervise installation and optimization of machinery Identify and implement process improvements Administer modifications of existing PLC programs in conjunction with mill personnel Efficiently manage multiple projects and processes across a large scope of work, simultaneously gauging task priority Train personnel in maintenance and operation of equipment Some overnight travel to divisions within California, Oregon, and Washington Provide phone support for division technicians for troubleshooting Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent industry experience Strong working knowledge of motion controllers, PLCs, servo systems, and HMIs Experience with servo and hydraulic motion control and tuning preferred Experience with Allen Bradley Control Logix and Kinetix systems preferred Machine vision experience a plus Ability to manage time and priorities under demanding circumstances Excellent communication, listening, and reasoning skills AutoCAD proficiency a plus Strong math skills Why Join Our Team? About the Position Design structures and foundations for sawmill, kiln, cogeneration, and planermill equipment and buildings Develop and improve lumber processing equipment Prepare plans, drawings, and calculations that will be submitted to county, city, or other governing bodies Facilitate the smooth and quick approval of plans Effectively model detailed concepts and designs using 3D modeling software Provide leadership and direction to fabricators, assemblers, machinists, and shop personnel Collaborate with company operations to understand complete application and needs Coordinate activities relative to the development of new equipment Learn and take on engineering projects with a mechanical emphasis when structural emphasis is not needed Work to continuously learn and improve knowledge of industry and equipment Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural or Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural 4 years’ experience in structural with familiarity with wood, steel, masonry and concrete buildings including structural calculation, foundation design, detailing and construction administration California P.E. or S.E. license with ability to get reciprocity in Oregon and Washington Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD and willingness to learn SolidWorks Knowledge of the structural provisions of the California Building Code, IBC, and ASCE 7 Working knowledge of structural steel, welding, and foundation design Familiarity with Microsoft Office, in particular Microsoft Excel Demonstrated ability to contribute creative solutions and succeed in an innovative environment Strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Why Join Our Team? About the Position Analyze engineer drawings and work orders to develop CNC programs for multiple axis machining operations Order necessary tooling and creating descriptions of tooling and fixturing requirements Determine and utilize proper speed and feed rates for varying materials Define reference point locations and origin offsets Create variable based programs using basic math, geometry, trigonometry, logic, and conditional statements Perform first article inspections and other quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design specifications Work closely with engineering and production on new product development Adjust tool paths and organize machining operations to optimize production and efficiency Be able to learn and use efficiently multiple CAD/CAM software platforms for a variety of machines Train other team members how to properly and safely operate/maintain CNC machines and programs Other duties as assigned Qualifications Previous experience working in a manufacturing setting is required At least 3 years experience using CAD/CAM software Associates Degree in related field is preferred Able to interpret engineering and production drawings Experience with fenestration products, especially aluminum and wood components, is preferred Experience with Homag, Biesse, Weeke, Elumatec, Joseph CNC equipment desired Ability to work independently and follow direction Strong attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and time management skills Strong work ethic, ability to self-start, and results-oriented mindset Why Join Our Team?
