Obviously, this Corvette is not the original Pace Car for the Indy Race in 2008, but is a "Replica" of it that Chevrolet built, without badging. This is one of 500 Indy 500 builds, ONLY 71 of those builds were convertibles. This a going to be a rare car as it ages. And the low miles adds to the value! 2008 was a banner year for the Corvette. The model year received a mid-cycle upgrade that featured the new 6.2 Liter LS3 engine with 436 horsepower (the best engines produced in the C6 era), new interior choices and two exciting new colors, Jetstream Blue and Crystal Red Metallic. When it comes to colors, 1 out of every 4 Corvettes is Black (9,380 – 26.6%). The two shades of red, Victory Red (5,638) and the new Crystal Red (5,420) make up 31.3% of colors produced. There were only1,545 convertibles out of the 5420 Crystal Red Corvettes manufactured in 2008. This is one of them. And with low miles too! When built, there were 500 2008 Corvette Indy 500 Pace Car replicas sold by Chevrolet, but according to the pace car registry only 148 had a manual transmission, and of those only 71 were convertibles. This pace car came with the Z51 performance package, the “NPP” dual mode exhaust, The dual-mode exhaust system features electronically-controlled valves that can be in one of two positions: opened and closed. When the valves are closed, exhaust gasses are carried via their typical path through the mufflers.
