About the Role We have some exciting projects coming up, and are looking for a journeyman or lead carpenter to assist us on a part-time basis, averaging around 30 hours a week to start. Experience in high-end residential remodeling is essential to excel in this role, and equally important is the right attitude and mindset– namely, a passion for craftsmanship and design, a desire to always be learning and taking on new challenges, a strong work ethic, and a positive mindset. This role can lead to a site supervisor or project manager position for the right candidate. Responsibilities •Perform carpentry and construction-related tasks efficiently and with minimal supervision, including framing and fine finish carpentry. •Assist in various onsite construction tasks and jobsite cleanliness/organization. •Communicate and cooperate with team members and clients in a respectful, positive manner. •Oversee the work of apprentice carpenters and assist in their education. Requirements •3 years minimum of remodel construction experience. New construction + other woodworking experience is also appreciated. •Have reliable transportation to and from work. Pickup truck or work van preferred. •A professional set of hand and power tools •Be willing to travel to job-sites in and around the Portland metro area •Be punctual and professional in appearance •Proficiency in basic math and fractions •Work between 25-35 hours per week •Ability to lift 50 lbs. Preferred but not required: •Ability to tow a tool trailer. •An interest in Japanese carpentry and design. ABOUT THE ROLE: The Field Technician reports to the Jersey Shore Laboratory in Waretown, New Jersey. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license as well as a clean driving record to drive to and from sampling locations using a company vehicle. The starting rate of pay is $17.00 per hour for a full-time, 30-hour workweek, Monday through Friday. WHAT YOU'LL DO: The primary responsibility of the Field Technician is the performance of water tests and sample collections at assigned locations. Testing and sample collection may include municipal wells, city water, private homes, public locations, sewer and water plants, wastewater, and pools. Employees may also set up sample composite machines for next-day sample pickup. Employees are trained in proper and compliant collection techniques as well as transport protocols to a certified laboratory. QUALIFICATIONS: No prior experience is required, but interested candidates should have experience in roles that require detailed procedures, good communication skills with clients, outdoor work, as well as meeting daily deadlines.
