Job Title: 1st Class Inside Manual Machinist Location: Shipyard – Inside Shop Shift: Day Shift Summary: Seeking an experienced 1st Class Manual Machinist to perform precision machining, repair, and fabrication of ship components in our inside shop. Must be able to work independently from blueprints and specifications using lathes, mills, drill presses, and other manual equipment. Responsibilities: • Set up and operate manual machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, etc.). • Fabricate and repair parts for pumps, valves, engines, and ship systems. • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. • Inspect finished parts to ensure accuracy and tolerances. • Follow all shipyard safety standards. Requirements: • 5+ years machining experience (shipyard/marine preferred). • Proficient with manual machining and measuring tools. • Strong blueprint reading skills. • Able to lift 50 lbs. and work in an industrial environment. Conduct assembly and disassembly of components for repairs or replacements. Execute hydraulic system repairs, including brake systems, transmissions, and suspension components. Operate heavy equipment to test functionality post-repair. Maintain accurate records of repairs performed and parts used. Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their equipment needs. Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects while adhering to safety protocols. QUALIFICATIONS 4 Years of fleet maintenance and repair Proven experience as a mechanic with a focus on heavy equipment repair; . Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment. Familiarity with automotive diagnostics, HVAC systems, diesel engine repair, brake repair, alignment procedures, and tire service. DOT brake certification 609 AC certified is a plus but not required Experience in welding and fabrication is a plus. Ability to lift heavy objects as required by the job duties. Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work. Previous experience in service technician roles or similar positions is highly desirable.
