The Library Assistant is a public-facing, fast-paced position that provides in-person and phone customer service at the library’s circulation desk. Library Assistants perform a variety of routine clerical and customer service functions for the library’s circulation department that include checking library materials in and out and updating records in an electronic database. The Library Assistant will be assigned responsibility for one or more ongoing, complex projects for the circulation department. The successful candidate will have two years of directly relevant education or experience, excellent customer service skills, knowledge of word processing and the internet, and an understanding of library organization. This is a regular, non-exempt position that will have an initial schedule of 30 hours per week, including an 8-hour shift every Saturday. We are looking for event staff for Formula 1 at Circuit of the America’s here in Austin! The event will take place Friday Oct 17-Sun Oct 19. This event will take place over three days bringing over 100,000 people each day. The positions are outside the track, including parking attendants, ticket scanners, rideshare greeters, and other operations related positions. Duties will include waiving cars, assisting with traffic flow, scanning parking passes and assisting with giving directions. It’s a very easy, outdoor job, that requires standing/walking, and long hours. Shift times vary, starting as early as 5am and run into the evening. Most shift start times are in the 8a-10a range, and are 8-10 hr shifts daily. Pay will be $15/hr, as well as a $100 bonus for staff who work all 3 days of the event (minimum of 8hr shift each day).
