Website Fulfillment Coordinator (Chelsea)
Books of Wonder is New York City’s largest and oldest independent children’s bookstore, now in its 46th year in business. We are seeking an extremely organized individual to be our Website Fulfillment Coordinator. In this role you will be in charge of organizing and preparing (prior to shipment) all online orders Books of Wonder receives through our website, including those containing multiple items that need to be carefully coordinated. Integral to this job is handling customer service phone calls and emails concerning order fulfillment, helping coordinate author signing campaigns, and helping assemble orders with signed bookplates, promotional and gifts items to be included with orders, and more.
This is a full-time position, Sundays through Thursdays from 10am-6pm or 11am-7pm at $18/hr. After one year of consistent and positive employment pay will increase to $19/hr. This candidate will work directly with the eCommerce Manager. As web customer service representative, you will be responsible for assisting customers with their online orders. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and possesses strong communication skills. Experience with Shopify is a plus.
Responsibilities:
• Organizing and fulfilling any online orders Books of Wonder receives through the website, which include pre-orders, signing campaigns, and on-hand merchandise.
• Respond to customer inquiries and resolve their issues via email or phone within 24 hours. Strong focus on customer satisfaction.
• Assist customer with placing orders, tracking shipments, and processing returns.
• Provide product information and recommendations to customers
• Organize and maintain in-progress orders awaiting other items.
• Assist in coordinating author signing campaigns.
• Maintain careful organization of signed bookplates, book promo items, etc.
• Keeping informed on upcoming releases/events
• Collaborate and communicate with other departments such as sales floor staff and buyers.
• Cross-trained to work the store sales floor, as applicable to all web department members.
Skills:
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Retail and Customer Service Skills.
• Attention to detail in order handling
• Ability to multitask
Preferred Qualifications:
• An interest in and knowledge of children’s literature, which encompasses books for newborns to books for young adults
• Bookstore experience
• Familiarity with order management systems
• Experience in seasonal fulfillment environments
• Knowledge in Shopify and iMerchant is a plus.
• Experience with social media is a plus
