Performs related tasks as assigned. Requirements / Qualifications • Completed Application. • Be available for work as early as 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. Education: • Equivalent to graduation from high school. • Documentation of No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Paraeducator Examination or 48 semester units or equivalent to an Associate of Arts degree or you may take the NCLB test at the District Office. Desirable: • Technical or college level course work or training dealing with Special Education students needs. Experience: • Required: Equivalent experience working/volunteering with Special Education Students in an academic, social, emotional or functional instructional environment.

Since 1990, the Coloma Outdoor Discovery School (CODS) has been inspiring students with engaging outdoor education programs. Our program invites students to enjoy a 1 to 3-day adventure exploring California Gold Rush history. We’re proud of our warm and welcoming team of professional naturalist educators, who serve as both knowledgeable teachers and positive role models. We’re excited to be hiring for our Fall 2025 season (October – December)! We have both full-time and part-time positions available, with opportunities during the day and evening. Responsibilities: Educating, supervising, and empowering students. Initiate learning in many formats: at meals, in the field, on the trail, and in large (75+) or small (12-16 students) groups. Continuous personal development of teaching skills and background knowledge of subject areas. Promote positive communication among staff, students, teachers, and chaperones. Model environmentally sustainable behavior and ethics. Regularly manage teaching supplies and equipment. Collaborate with staff and organization leaders to continually upgrade academic and logistical aspects of the program. Qualifications: Ability to conduct skits, songs, and/or stories in front of large groups of children & adults. Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with others. Experience working with people and an enjoyment of all kinds of people, especially children aged 9-11. Excellent communication skills. Love working outdoors – rain or shine.
