The City of Springfield is seeking a Security Attendant to foster a welcoming environment while maintaining security and safety of City Hall, the Library, the Museum, surrounding grounds, and City events. The Security Attendant embodies the City’s values by prioritizing rapport-building and active listening to better understand and respond to the needs of others. This position actively monitors the facilities, as well as reports accidents, property damage, and monitors building systems such as heating and cooling. The ideal candidate is someone who demonstrates strong interpersonal and situational response skills. Such a way to meet minimum qualifications could include: • High school diploma or GED and 1-2 years of facility security and/or conflict management experience. Licensing and Certifications: • Obtain First Aid and CPR certification within a designated time assigned by the City, and maintain throughout the course of employment Preferences may be given for knowledge and experience: • Previous experience as a Security Attendant • Certified DPSST Private Security Officer • First Aid, CPR, Bloodborne pathogen, mental health or addiction behavior training • Spanish speaking abilities • Experience with conflict resolution or de-escalation tactics Physical Requirements: • Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, exposed to weather conditions • Bending, kneeling, leaning, walking and lifting • Mobility and physical strength/stamina to respond to emergency situations and accidents For the complete list of physical requirements, please see: https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/springfieldor/classspecs/1478719?keywords=security&pagetype=classSpecifications Selection and Interview Process: Top candidates will be invited to interview.
