Mechanic / Senior Trades Worker Office of Transportation and Facilities Job Summary: This is skilled work performing vehicle and equipment preventative maintenance and repairs. Job duties include: Performs vehicle preventative maintenance and major and minor repairs to District light fleet, heavy equipment, hydraulic units, and systems. Performs routine preventive maintenance and service tasks on all fleet vehicles, to include 1-ton and 3/4-ton pickups, dump trucks, lowboy tractors, heavy equipment, tractor with mower/disc attachments, generators, pumps, outboard motors and other tools and equipment. Maintains and performs scheduled services and operational repairs to project pumps, engines, vehicles and other small equipment used on projects (engine descriptions include diesel, gas and alternate fuel as well as hydraulic and electrical pumps, motors and control units). Performs preventative maintenance and checks and services District vehicles and equipment. Cleans and maintains tools and shop equipment; performs air conditioning repairs to heavy and light fleet assets/vehicles. Performs metal fabrication and welding on vehicles and equipment; performs other related duties as directed by supervisors. Performs administrative duties as assigned to include electronic timecards and purchase card use and accountability. Serves as the primary operator of the District's two-ton mobile maintenance truck used to perform maintenance and repairs to project site equipment. Maintains and repairs pumps and power units, heavy equipment, small engines, and wheel vehicles for Apopka, Sunnyhill, and Lake George Field Stations and project sites. Uses an electronic work order system in the performance of all assigned work; maintains accurate accountability of time, parts and effort expended on preventive maintenance, checks and services; operates vehicles and equipment, such as: pickup trucks, dump trucks, front-end loader, dozer, track hoe grader, badger, tractors, mowers, and semi tractor trailer for testing and evaluating maintenance performed. Minimum Qualifications: Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. and four years of experience as described above or formal education may substitute for work experience and a valid Florida Class A Commercial Driver License with Tanker N endorsement or the ability to obtain within one year from date of hire.  The District may pay for the Entry-Level Driver Training program and may reimburse for other fees associated with obtaining the CDL license through a provider of the District’s choice. After the initial Entry-Level Driver Training program paid by the District, if a CDL is not obtained, employee will be responsible for the cost of subsequent training. SJRWMD has determined this to be a mandatory-testing position as described in Section 440.102, Florida Statutes and the Commercial Motor Vehicle Drug Testing Program as described in 49 CFR Part 382. Any offer of employment will be contingent upon successfully passing a drug screening paid by SJRWMD. The PE is to ensure that the As-Built Drawings are up to date on all RFIs, ASIs and Approved Proposal Requests. • Accident Reports and OSHA Reports: The PE is responsible for logging accident reports and OSHA Reports in Procore. • Turnover Documentation: PE is responsible to collect and monitor turnover documentation (Certificates of Substantial Completion and Certificates of Occupancy). CLOSEOUT DOCUMENTATION: • Closeout Checklist: The PE is responsible to create and keep an updated closeout checklist from the beginning of the job through completion. The closeout checklist tracks all closeout items required at the end of the job and when they are received. • The PE is responsible to gather all closeout documentation for the project and ensure that it is delivered to the Architect in the proper format. SCHEDULING AND PROACTIVE PLANNING: • Submittals: PE is responsible to coordinate with the Project Manager and Superintendent to schedule submittals according to order of production and lead times. Submittal Scheduling and Coordination is a crucial aspect to this job. • Scheduling: The PE may be asked to assist in inputting the schedule in Microsoft Projects under the direction of the Project Manager. The PE should be familiar with Microsoft Projects. CONFLICT RESOLUTION/PROBLEM SOLVING: • Conflict Resolution/Problem Solving – The PE is a problem solver focused upon resolving disputes or non- compliance issues that disrupts the production of the project within job description. • The PE is to report all site conflicts to the Superintendent.
